As of 14:00 pacific standard time Asia today has received reliable evidence that the US has an armada heading towards the sea of Japan to conduct joint naval war games with Japan and South Korea. The question is who are these war games meant for? War games with the US are a common practice in North pacific states like Japan and South Korea. They are usually focused on deterrence of North Korean forces but these recent war games come days after Chinas announcement of the creation of new a new squadron of submarines. These submarines come as tensions grow over disputed islands in the South China Sea that China has been arming and militarizing. Asia Today’s source in the Whitehouse states that the military build up in China is “concerning and is something the US will need to observe closely.”
