OPCW Issues Fact-Finding Mission Report on Chemical Weapons Use Allegation in Douma, Syria, in 2018

The article gives a brief description of the findings of the fact-finding mission conducted in Douma, Syria. The report found that chemicals were used as a weapon in Douma last April and the main component was molecular chlorine. The report was shared with other international organizations and briefings are expected to occur in the coming weeks.


OUTLOOK: It was already known that chemical weapons were being used in Syria, however this report affirms their usage in a specific attack. Fact-finding reports such as these that verify the use of chemical weapons can lead to an increase in international pressure via acts like sanctions.
