Latvia hosted the The twenty-eighth Plenary Meeting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), brings together 48 Participating Governments with the aims of preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons and materials through the implementation on a national basis of export controls. The governments shared proliferation difficulties and reaffirmed support of the NPT, and discussed developments in Iran and North Korea.
Implications: The participating governments reasserted support for the UN Resolutions that North Korea should abandon all Nuclear production and research; and for that of continued observation of Iran’s programs as well. The NSG members also discussed continuation of the communication protocols discussed at the annual meeting in 2016.
