How Congress Can Exert Responsible Oversight on Trump’s Dangerous Approach to Arms Sales

Despite Trump’s support of Saudi Arabia, congress has tried to direct attention away from US intervention in the war in Yemen. Both the senate and congress seem to be working towards restricting US involvement in that war significantly. In recent years, the US has sold many weapons to Saudi Arabia and this is looking to decrease in the years and months coming.

Significance: If the United States continues to sell so many weapons to Saudi Arabia, there will likely be human rights consequences. Congress is attempting to cut down on irresponsible arms trade between the US and other countries. By restricting the amounts of weapons that the US exports to Saudi Arabia, there will be less of a public outcry, and also ease tension between US allies.
